Saturday with family

I woke up late today. I think this is the first weekend since I got here that I slept this long. It sorta felt good. =)

I went to a picnic with my cousin. My cousin's office arranged a picnic at Lake Fairfax park. It was fun. Most of my cousin's officemates are Filipino so it wasn't hard to blend in with them. We finished at around 7pm. Yeah, you're probably thinking hat's pretty late to end a picnic. Well, the thing is, since its summer the sun really doesn't set until around 8pm.

We decided to catch the 10pm screening of Batman Begins since we really didn't wanna go home yet. When we got to the movie house, the 10pm was already sold out. We ended up getting tickets for the 1020pm showing. It was only 9pm. We decided to get ice cream at the Ben and Jerry's shop near the movie house. We finished our ice cream just in time for the movie.

I loved the movie. We decided to head on over to IHOP for a really early breakfast. We got to IHOP around 12mn. Got a whole lot of food and ended up going home around 130 am. On the way home, we had to take a detour. They had to close the highway because of an accident involving a tanker. When we we're getting near the house we noticed that there was a helicopter flying around with the search lights on. We later found out that it was searching the area near our place. We got held up cause the cops blocked of the road/block that we were in. It was kinda scary. We say a lot of ambulances, cop cars and fire trucks. There was also a cop running around with a rifle. A few minutes later, there were people running around being chased by cops. I felt like I was in one of the episodes in the tv show COPS. Two guys in a car in front us got out of their car and headed to the ambulance. One of the guys was bleeding. :( Seriously, the whole thing scared the hell out of me.

Anyway, it's time to head to bed. Still have to get up early to hear mass at the Basilica.
